Inertia Hat, Falling Stones, Pull-Me Cart, Newton in a Petri Dish, Crash Dummies

Hi everyone!!!! ( Thanks to Beth for doing this!!)

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about these labs. We actually combined them all into a one day lab and just made stations! It worked out great! One Tip: Instead of using skateboards, I used two rolling chairs (mine and another teachers) and that worked just fine! Plus, it wasn't as scary to let them pull each other across the room since they were sitting down! The inertia hat hangs down low, almost past their shoulders........ and I was adjusting it and re-adjusting it throughout the day...... it was also their favorite one!

Side Note..... although I'm sure you've noticed! A LOT of the answer sheets are WRONG.... WAY wrong...... Always double check! I'm glad I did! Anyway, I hope all is well and as I remember things I'll pass it on! Good Luck!

Let's Begin

Hello SBISD 8th grade science teachers!!! Welcome to our new blog.

Several of us talked about using a blog to provide a forum for us to support each other and to share our knowledge/wisdom/insights. Here it is!!

Please feel free to post on this blog about . . .
  • Suggestions to changes in the curriculum
  • Stories about how you are using the curriculum in your classroom
  • Additional activities you are doing that enhance learning
  • Articles about teaching and/or science
  • Frustrations
  • Questions
  • Etc.

I hope this will be helpful to all of us as we go through this year and the new curriculum.

Keep in touch.
